NEW ZEALAND FASHION WEEK - Salasai

Established in New Zealand in 2006 and now based in Western Australia, Salasai is known for its conceptual design and innovative approach.

The move to Western Australia seems to have had an influence on designer Kirsha Whitcher. With models sporting cowboy style hats and adorned with dry wheat pocket corsages, the styling in today's collection had a very 'western' feel to it.

Salasai continued the trend for earthy tones that we've seen this week, with both the men's and women's collections presenting pieces with a relaxed sophistication about them. Several early ensembles in the women's collection were presented in a pastel yellow, most made from a beautiful chiffon fabric which moved beautifully with the models for an elegant feminine touch.

A rough aztec style print dominated both collections, with print pieces often teamed with a plain coloured garment to ensure the print remained the main feature.

A move towards a rich red palate happened late in the show, with the most impressive pieces - cherry red leather trousers and a biker jacket in the same colour, with contrasting black sleeves - speaking volumes about the quality of construction and attention to detail that the Salasai brand encompasses.

One of our favourite collections so far!

The full collection is online in our Salasai Facebook album.
