Elusiv Spirit - Where the spirit does not work with the hand, there is no art.

OK, so we're not Art History gurus (but we know one or two) but kicking off a collection with a quote from Leonardi (that's Da Vinci, not the Mutant Ninja) has gotta say you're confident about it. The Elusiv crew have every right to be so, this is one sweet as Summer collection for 2010!

In a land where mauri is at the heart of everything and that spirit is the vital force that exists within living things; Elusiv manages to embody the spirit of today's styley Kiwi man.

Designer Nicola Reilly tells us that "every item of Elusiv clothing is defined by a story of its influences, there is distinctive detailing that instils in each garment the quality, fit, fabric and structure of the spirit of New Zealand."

We think this latest collection shows that Elusiv will rock your world - they bring us the perfect items for our wardrobes - and hopefully yours, enough said check it out, Spirit...

The collection features Elusiv's characteristic neutral earthy tones, punctuated with stunning cobalt blue and the purity of white. As Reilly says, "Let Spirit from Elusiv be your style guide this summer". Check out the full range on their website later in the season, hell just go check out the existing gear, it's hot as... and you can buy it online!

21 Grams - Sicker than your Average Bear

If it's hot, hip, sick and twisted; it's in the summer collection from new tee label 21Grams. Going places no other brands would dare, 21Grams is the brainchild of the politically incorrect Andrew McCulloch and Shaun Bay (and we like it!).

"We wanted a tee label with prints that pushed the boundaries," says McCulloch. "We are not into designing the clichéd 'Kiwi' prints - maps, tikis etc, because we live here; we don't need to promote New Zealand every minute of the day," he says. "So we created our own brand with prints of what others don't dare to."

Guns, drugs, sex and psychotic pandas throwing gang signs are featured heavily in this summer's collection - for those who like their streetwear to be truly on the edge.

The melting TV print is one LSD trip away from liquefying your mind, and the Molotov Mondays tee will show your disdain for the ordinary and mundane in all of our lives.

There are knife toting pirates for punk chic hoes, risky caps emblazoned with 'Live 'til you die' sure to get you kicked out of the country club, and the tees come in a range of colours guaranteed to make you stand out from the crowd.

This summer from 21Grams is not for the faint at heart - indeed, in order to don these duds, you will have to be sicker than the average bear! Check out the full range at www.21grams.co.nz and when the time is right, get to a stockist. XO M+M

Triple One Manufacturing Co. Boutique opens. We're in love!

We're hearing good things about The Triple One Manufacturing Co. They're about to re-launch Auckland's premier destination for headwear and apparel from brands with roots in street art and design. Triple One is focused on providing an eclectic mixture of brands that hold onto the great old world principles of attention to detail and producing quality over quantity.

These guys have been quietly building a reputation for having one the largest selection of headwear in New Zealand, including Goorin Brothers a century old hat maker based in San Francisco. And you may have noticed our obsession with awesome tees, Triple One has some of the best artist-designed t-shirts, and apparel, denim and art collectibles from some awesome local and international labels including Upperplayground, Seventh Letter Crew, Imaginary Foundation, Beautiful Decay, Eshe, Cleatis-Preston and the in house Triple One label - printed by hand onsite and in small limited quantities.

The new store fit out is awesome, it fits perfectly with their location in one of the older parts of Auckland and the old world attention to detail. We think you could spend all day in there, aesthetically it rocks compared with many of Auckland's homogenised stores.

And whilst we spend half our time in the digital world, we have to love the lengths the guys have gone to to avoid using anything digital. All signs are custom made or screenprinted by hand and even the hang tags are created using the now rarely used but wonderfully cute, wooden rubber stamp.

Get yourself along to Triple One Manufacturing Co. at 111 Symonds StreetNewton (that's in Auckland for the non Jafas!) and check out awesome gear in an awesome location. One feature that blew us away and has people staring at the back wall: is the use of genuine vintage 1930s and 1950s newspapers from Auckland and Kingston Jamaica. For King, for country! Can't make it into the store? Visit them online - they've got a great website and, like the best of us, are on Facebook.
