Robyn Mathieson now in New Zealand's fashion capital

Robyn Mathieson opened up her second shop in Auckland and we were invited for a sneak peak on Thursday 5th of August. To coincide with the store opening, she also unveiled her new Summer range “I’d rather be…”. Our newest guest writer dru4u was at the opening. We'll let him keep the post title (although we're not convinced Newmarket is our fashion capital - way too many other contenders we reckon). Anyway, over to dru4u...

Invited guests marveled at the beautiful garments which are all New Zealand made while sipping on wine & enjoying a few tasty treats. On display as well were amazing shoes and stunning leather bags. Guests were also treated to goody bags filled with Clinique, Lush and Servilles products.

The store was fitted by the multi-talented Scott Gordon from Scott Gordon Design (http://www.scottgordondesign.com) who also created some exquisite pieces of jewelery for Robyn to wear including a stunning 24 carat Mystic Quartz set in Sterling Silver ring and my absolute favorite, Sterling Silver and Brass Antler necklace.

The store had a minimalistic approach and was spacious which allowed for fixtures to be moved around to create a new look and feel. The changing rooms were well lit with cylindrical lights and a large mirror was on display when you walked out of the changing room. This of course was for when you wanted to sashay around in the outfits and study the movement of the fabrics. Or if you just wanted to see how gorgeous you looked in a piece from her summer collection.

Robyn Mathieson is well known for her fantastic use of colour and design and this was evident on the women that wore her clothes that evening. A few of her staff members donned her beautiful creations for the opening night and were quite happy to be dressed in such wonderful designs. Jade George who will be assisting customers in the Newmarket shop wore a beautiful dress with a red, blue and white print. The collection on display had such vibrant colors and beautiful soft fabrics that you wished summer would come sooner.

Kate Breeze who works alongside Robyn Mathieson and wore an electric blue zigzag print dress that we adored mentioned that the new shop in Newmarket would bring in more clientele for the designer. No doubt with such a new vibrant summer collection we can expect Robyn Mathieson to feel right at home in Newmarket.

The new shop is located on Osborne Street, parallel to Broadway in New Zealand's fashion capital, Newmarket. With other notable designers such as Zambesi on the same street, Robyn Mathieson is in a prime location for fashionistas galore.Get into the spirit of summer and visit Robyn Mathieson on Osborne St in Newmarket. Say hi to the beautiful and friendly Jade while you're there!! =)
